Scrapbooking & the Bokeh Technique

It was a fun scrapbook club today -- we made a couple of pages that do not match so they can become the first or last pages of our 12 by 12 albums. It was a great chance to learn some how-tos for new products from Stampin' Up's Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs.

First page uses the look that is all the rage called the "bokeh" technique -- the word bokeh comes from that sparkly effect you see in photographs when flickering circles of light are at different focal lengths. A stamp image in the Best Day Ever set, that you can earn for free during Sale-a-bration, is perfect for making bokeh circles. (FYI -- you earn SAB items free for each $50 you spend in the US until the end of March!)

The strip of white card stock on the left was stamped with Coastal Cabana ink -- and I stamped off the ink before stamping for the first time, then kept stamping until no ink was left so I got varying shades of the color. The dots should overlap and be random -- and the result is the trendy bokeh look.

The cute paper bow on the tag was made with our new Bow Builder Punch -- love this and predict it will be a huge hit. So easy to make a bow that's just a little over 2 inches wide.

The layout was CASEd from a PageMaps sketch idea -- five photos will be overlapped down the middle so a lot will fit.

Next post I will share page #2. Links highlighting some items used on the page are below and will take you right to my online store for more details or so you can order them. If the item has a price of "0" that's because it's something you can earn free with each $50 order (U.S.)
