A Quick Fall Card with a Wow
October 24, 2014
I love to make cards that are simple and easy to mail, but that also pack a little bit of a wow. On this card a fun technique lets you make a multi-color fall leave (it's the only fall color I'll see here in Florida!)
The leaf image from the "For all Things" set was inked first with Hello Honey ink then just the edges were rolled onto a Cajun Craze inkpad. It's known as the "Rock 'n Roll Technique."
Next step was to just blur the line between those two colors just a bit, right on the stamp using the tip of my finger. I just blended a little where the Honey and Cajun met. You could also use a Q-Tip. Then an Early Espresso marker was used to draw on the veins. Last step was to stamp on Vanilla card stock and then cut out.
The pretty watercolor block image from the same set was stamped three times side by side in Hello Honey as a background for the "Thanks" from Seasonally Scattered stamped in Early Espresso. TIP: Stamp the first Hello Honey image in the middle of your card stock then one to each side and they will fit perfectly and be centered.
The loopy linen thread look under the leaf is very "in" right now. I just wrapped it around four fingers to have three loops and a tail on each side and adhered it lightly over a small strip of SNAIL adhesive. Dimensional foam adhesive on the back of the leaf holds the twine in in place.
