Convention Honors a Special Demonstrator

Fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator Susy Miller changed my Stampin' Up career - just like I know she changed many others. Years ago after I'd been a demonstrator for just a short amout of time, Susy talked at an SU event about a new idea called the "Totally Hands-On" workshop. I knew this was for me as I did not really like talking about stamping at a workshop and then letting the guests make just one thing. When I switched to Susy's then-revolutionary idea of letting them make just about everything I showed, my sales increased and I started earning trips. Because they used more products they fell in love with stamping.

Because Susy lived across the state from me at that time in Tampa, she was also gracious about always answering emails that I'd send asking for advice. I loved seeing her at every SU event and watching her do more presentations that were always a hoot!

So when Susy was diagnosed with ALS a few years back everyone knew what that meant. It meant she would fight the noble fight and keep making us smile along the way.

In May 2011 during the Stampin' Up Alaskan cruise I took the special photo of Susy and her husband Donnie seen at the top of this post. Susy could still get around and she just beamed that same special glow that inspires everyone who meets her.

On Saturday, Stampin' Up! co-founder Shelli Gardner presented a very surprised Susy with the Heart of Stampin' Up! Award, honoring her contributions to all of us whose lives she touches. And of course Susy had to make us laugh, telling the photographer in no uncertain terms to just wait until she wiped away the tears and runny nose for this photo.

Susy is a character in a world of bland people as my husband is known for saying. Thank you and I love you! And keep fighting.
