Easy Notebook Project
July 07, 2010
I wanted to share a project from my new catalog Open House that was July 1. Everyone loved this simple notebook -- such an easy way to dress up an inexpensive scratch pad (the 3" by 5" size pad that is available in a package of 12 at any office supply store.) TIP: Our Tombow Liquid Glue is perfect for holding the cardboard back of the pad inside the notebook. The cover piece started out 6 & 5/8" by 5" -- and was then scored at 3 & 1/8" and 3 & 1/2" along that longest side.
I used the new In Color Pear Pizzazz — a very pretty green that's a perfect match for the new Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper (DSP). Also new stamps -- Friends Never Fade is the pretty floral on the front and back. The image on the front was inked with Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie markers -- and it's layered onto a Pumpkin Pie scallop -- punched out with our new fabulous 2 & 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (love how big it is.) Look closely and that Pumpkin layer has subtle tone-on-tone stamping using the new Homemade single stamp -- gives it a pretty scalloped border. There's really a little homemade cupcake design on that stamp but it's covered up by the white layer (punched out with the 1 & 3/4" circle punch) so only that border shows. The sayings are the wonderfully popular Favorite Thoughts stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog -- and only available through August 31. They're stamped in Early Espresso -- a new deep, deep brown that I am loving. Also beautiful new 1/8 inch Taffeta Ribbon is showcased on these -- either Daffodil Delight or Early Espresso depending on the color of the DSP. And notice the gorgeous contrasting edge on the ribbon -- such incredible quality.
I love having little notebooks to give as gifts. Demonstrator Sarah Anthony had given me a little Post-it pad one that used a saying from the Favorite Thoughts set as well and it inspired me to design these. They're so wonderful to use as a teacher gifts or to go along with a matching set of note cards.
Enjoy and if you still need a new catalog, send me a note or check out the links to catalog downloads in the right column of my blog.
