Eggcellent Eggs Kit in Action

It's great to be home from Phoenix where I spent much of last week at Stampin' Up's amazing Leadership conference learning SO much. I had wanted to post these photos of my first egg project but never squeezed in time. The Eggcellent Eggs kit from the Occasions Mini Catalog (item # 117179) is only $9.95 and includes so many great supplies. You get a sheet of sticky backed rhinestones -- love the bling; four sheets of printed die cut flowers in Pretty in Pink, Pale Plum, So Saffron and Bashful Blue; a sheet of leaves in Certainly Celery; four sheets of printed egg stands that make adorable borders for cards and scrapbook pages if you'd rather use them that way; and two sheets of white rub ons!!

A wooden egg that's flat on the bottom so it stands up is the base for this project -- I dyed the egg with our craft pigment ink in Pale Plum -- love the soft look in person although it does not photograph too well. A word of caution though -- craft ink and rub ons don't go together well so had trouble using the rub on as a butterfly trail like I planned. Edited to add: Acrylic paint and rub-ons do work well together so if you paint your eggs with craft acrylic paint that coordinates with the kit colors, the rub-ons will work just fine. They just don't like to stick to pigment ink -- even on paper I've had trouble with that. The little added butterflies were die cut with the new Embosslit Die for the Big Shot system called Beautiful Wings. Love adding those and using the bling as an accent on those as well.

I used mini glue dots to attach my embellishments to the egg, shown here from a slightly different angle. I'll be sharing more ideas with these great kits which are available while supplies last. That's because it's seasonal and if it were to go on backorder we could not get more by Easter -- so order soon.
