A Wedding Favor Idea

Fancy Favor Box - Christmas Style

BoxesThree Ok -- I'll admit I LOVE several of the Stampin' Up Big Shot dies -- but this new Fancy Favor Box is 'da bomb! It's just plain old versatile and I know I'll use it for lots of holidays and other occasions. It's BIG for a Sizzix 3-D item -- 2 inches deep from front to back! About 3 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall! It will hold a lot and an SU medium cello bag fits inside with treats. The Fancy Favor die is item #115965 -- you need one!

BoxGusset We made this Christmas version with the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper at my Catalog Celebration event this past weekend. One of the cool things is there are score lines on the sides for gussets -- so it can take on a bag shape instead of a box if you want. Just don't fold those lines if you want it to be more of a box.

The embellishment is so simple but sweet. It's our new Jumbo Snowflake punch and the coordinating Simple Snowflake punch (which is only $7.95 -- love that -- it's item #115554 and the punch is item #116628). I stamped the Snowflake in Garden Green ink on shimmery white card stock (TIP: that shimmery variety is just a little bit heftier for the intricate punch and it has an off white color which matches the paper better). Then I punched it out upside down so I could see the image through the punch and layered it onto a circle that was punched from either Garden Green or Real Red Textured card stock with the 1 3/4" circle punch. FYI -- the Snowflake is a little thin in the center so I pierced a hole in the center alone then positioned it on the circle and pierced through that layer with the holes lined up. A gold brad holds them together. (I had suggested putting the brad just through the snowflake and then using a mini glue dot to hold it to the circle, but the brad makes more sense -- I just did not like punching both layers at once as you might bend or tear your snowflake.)

I use Tombow Multi Adhesive to glue the box side flap and bottom flaps in place -- just a little and I love that it holds quickly but gives you some wiggle time. Also love how the fluted edge on the box top lines up so nicely if you do squeeze the top edges together like a little bag. Enjoy!
