One of a Kind Treat Box
January 24, 2008
I don't know where the time has gone! I'm determined to post more ideas -- have plenty photographed in fact so I plan to free up time to get them on here! This cute little box was a stamp club project this month. The box itself matches a pattern on the SU demonstrator site -- I can email you a pattern if you don't have a demonstrator. I also made a card version by just doing the same layout stretched out across the front of a 4 & 1/4" by 5 & 1/2" card.
The flower is SU chipboard from the Blossoms and Basics set -- I love how our "naked" chipboard is a perfect match for Sahara Sand card stock. The stamped images are all from the new set One of a Kind. On the chipboard flower I stamped the small circle image in Groovy Guava as an accent -- love how it fits perfectly in each petal. (I plan to try this trick with other small circle stamps I have as a way to easily dress up chipboard!) For the designer paper accent in the center I used a piece of the new Ginger Blossom SU paper collection and first punched a 1&3/8" circle -- then punched around that hole with SU's scallop punch to make a ring. TIP: You can fit 6 rings on one 2" by 12" strip if you use one of the rings to space them out -- I just make a pencil mark in the middle to guide that first circle punch and then I know I have enough room for the scallop punch to punch around it -- but not so much room that I waste paper. Make sense? Tied on a little Guava double-stitched ribbon as an accent and used Dimensionals to attach it to the box.
The band of Guava designer paper is also from the Ginger Blossoms pack -- and I stamped the saying and little dots on there with Ruby Red ink. The box itself is Ruby Red card stock and there is a subtle background pattern wheeled on in Ruby Red with the SU jumbo wheel called It's Beautiful. The flowers from One of a Kind are stamped in Ruby Red ink on Sahara Sand card stock and punched out with the new Boho Blossom SU punch that's a perfect match for the stamp image -- love that! The accents you see through the center of the chipboard flower were made by stamping the largest flower in the One of a Kind set in Ruby Red on Guava CS -- but then I punched out just the center with a 1&1/4" circle and stuck it to the box inside my flower. Add your punched flower accents with Dimensionals or a mini glue dot, a ribbon handle and you've got a grown-up Valentine's treat box that you can add candy or a little gift to.
