Woven Papers

Petals_woven Time for another swap card that's been keeping me busy. This is another take on the woven paper technique using the Stampin' Up grid paper to cut the woven decorative strip. Here are how-tos for the technique from an earlier post. I wanted to use the Petals & Paisleys papers, but the technique is most effective when there is good contrast between the two sides of the designer paper so you have to choose carefully. I like how the strip I chose turned out. But then the issue was how to mount it -- as again, the color of the mat that shows through the weave plays a big role in how these cards look. The striped paper in the set provided the answer and color inspiration -- with So Saffron and Regal Rose mats doing the trick. The sentiment is inked with a Rose marker and Olive spot-size pad -- and then punched out with the Keytag punch. The little touch of color on the left side of the saying tag is a turquoise Keytag punched and then layered underneath. Since the saying is to "find joy in the little things" it seemed appropriate to have little touches that enhance the card's overall look. Little touches that can take some time, but they're worth it for a wow card that will be kept by the recipient (we hope!) The wheeled background is just the Petals wheel and Versmark ink -- I love the tone-on-tone look without the need to own a million cartridges and so do my customers (plus that gives us more to spend on stamps!)
