A Special Book

Rileys_book_copyI wanted to make a very special journal for my first grader Riley. She has been working so hard on her reading skills and she loves to write books and keep a diary. While she's been at school today, I transformed a plain black and white composition book using the Stampin' Up Loves Me papers, the Alphabet Wheel from the Winter mini, and some Flirty ribbons. The Riley name frame is done with the tiny Rough Edges alphabet -- then an On Board accents chipboard piece covered with Loves Me paper scrap -- just used our great glue sticks for that and then trimmed it. The big R accent is a circle punched with the Marvey Mega scalloped circle, an accent out of the Sweet Nothings Accents and Elements tin (winter mini again!) -- and then the R from the Typeset Alphabet is accented with a Cool Caribbean stamped image behind it from the Stamp of Authenticity set. Because I was in a hurry and did not want to wait for any glue to dry, I actually attached all the printed paper to the book with Sticky Strip -- love that stuff! Crystal Effects holds down the brown Flirty ribbon since it's "bumpy." She's going to be so surprised -- and I've even put a strip of matching paper down inside the barrel of a Pentel RSVP pen so it matches! Final touch -- that pink gingham ribbon you see hanging off the top edge is a bookmark ribbon attached before the spine strip was attached. This was a quick gift -- but it doesn't look it and it will definitely make my Smiley Riley feel special. So get out those printed paper scraps, add a few stamps and ribbons and make your own special journal.
