Brown paper bags never looked so good -- or so romantic as they do on this valentine mini photo album. This happens to have been my hostess appreciation "thank you" project for everyone who was a hostess in 2005. So we made them last December of 2005 -- and I saved this one to give to my husband last Valentines Day. All the "pages" are 5 inch square pieces of card stock, stamped and then attached to the folded lunch size brown paper bags using SU glue stick. The cover features a silver embossed heart from the Sketch It set. It was embossed on a larger piece of red card stock and then torn just around the right side of the heart to make an interesting accent, with the right side popping off the page.
Inside pages 1 & 2 carry out the red, white and black theme with the stamp set It's About time. Look below and you'll see what's hidden in the "pocket" section formed between pages 2 & 3 by the open end of the bag -- it holds two pullout pages that provide space for more photos and journaling. You can also glimpse pages 3 & 4, which include a small note hidden inside a small white square envelope.
The final two pages feature more photos -- and as you'll see, the final bag pocket reveals a hidden chocolate surprise! The back is just a red card stock square with tone-on-tone red hearts to give it some texture. The book was made from just two brown paper bags, stacked on top of each other with the open ends going in opposite directions so that the pockets were placed in the right places. I punched through all the layers with a 1/4 inch circle punch, just a little bit in from the fold and then tied it together with red grosgrain, white narrow organdy and black gingham ribbons. This is still one of my all time favorite valentines and I think it's why I have so many repeat hostesses -- they love these special appreciation projects each year.
